Although 'Photography of students' saw the world not long ago, and it's geography of 'traveling' is not wide, the heard reviews are unambiguous and optimistic.
Project to publish this edition in Photography studio at Lithuanian Youth Technical Creativity Palace maturated not one day. The Palace administration assented to this idea. Ministry of Education and Science, Joint Stock company Fujifilm Lietuva, Union of Lithuanian Art Photographers supported us. We call them not only financial, but moral supporters too. We collected the stuff for the first number of the magazine in a photo studio. At last all thoughts, ideas, feelings got materialized and took shape in 500 copies of uncoloured edition 'Photography of Students'.
Some people (especially if they haven't read it) may ask what's the point of putting this magazine to the flock of others? But long working experience of photo studio, analysis of photo coteries activity show, that photography of students is a frequent phenomenon. The facts, given by school-boards of municipalities, suggest that a lot of students are interest in photography and attend photo coteries. Yearly competitions of photography of students confirm this fact. So our magazine has a clear point - to popularize photography of students and to those, who have chosen photography as self-expression give a chance to exhibit works. In that way ability to estimate and dispute one's works, formulate opinion is nurtured. Short and sweet we are trying to fill the niche in the abundance of the printings. Maybe an amateur alternative exists somewhere , but there isn't any serious qualitative magazine writing about themes like photography of students. So maybe it won't be naive to tell that we are the first and the one.
We shouldn't forget that photographing student is not a professional. That corrects the purport, character of a magazine. We all start, gain momentum, learn, trip up someday. What is elementary to some people, can be terra incognita to others. Because of that magazine is going to range different themes, organize competitions and projects of every descriptions, publish the best (or maybe the worst too) works, assign thematic creative tasks and talk through them, report photo technology's news. We are waiting for substandard suggestions too (e.g. 'Writing and photographing' or 'My watercolours and photos', etc.).
The well of thought is full. It would be nice of you to write us. Even if you aren't a student.
